Prosser Memorial Health is a Critical Access Hospital located in Prosser, Washington. In 2017, we were asked to conduct a feasibility study to identify the necessity for a new hospital and determine a suitable location for a health care campus. Our findings led to a new 25-bed, 100,000+ sqft hospital and connected MOB with highway accessibility, designed for future expansion and the development of a health care campus featuring multiple medical buildings and community amenities. Through this process, we discovered synergies among the varying departments, enabling us to share resources such as waiting rooms and check-in staff. This collaborative approach reduced the overall building size, enhancing both space and financial efficiencies.

Despite facing challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic and escalating construction costs, we prioritized efficient space planning. Our strategy involved combining areas sensibly, like waiting rooms for diagnostic imaging and lab work. Every aspect of the hospital, from operating rooms to storage closets, underwent scrutiny to ensure appropriate sizing and the most efficient layout. Growth corridors were strategically planned in each of the four primary building ends, offering clear paths for departmental expansion when needed. The result is a hospital that fulfills all space requirements without unnecessary "fluff." This project utilized USDA funding, a mechanism similar to ARPA funding. Throughout the project's lifecycle, we were intimately involved in the USDA funding process and demonstrated our ability to navigate federal funding successfully.
